Is my family data private? +

Yes. Each family gets its own subdomain + database scope. Other tenants cannot see your data. We never sell or share it. Public-facing pages on your portal are only public if you explicitly mark them so.

How is this different from Ancestry or MyHeritage? +

We are not a historical-records database — we do not have billions of census records. We are a private family portal: tree, events, photos, stories, memorials, recipes, and the day-to-day life of your living family. Think Slack-for-your-family, not a research tool.

Can I import a GEDCOM file? +

Yes. Bring your existing tree from Ancestry, MyHeritage, FamilySearch, or any GEDCOM-compatible tool. Admin → Family Tree → Import.

Can I export my data? +

Anytime. Tenant Admin → Export tenant generates a .tar.gz with every database row (as JSON) + every uploaded photo/document. Your data is yours.

What happens to my data if I stop paying? +

Your portal reverts to the Free plan limits (25 members, 500 MB). Existing data is preserved. If you fall below the Free plan limits you stay free forever. If you exceed them, uploads stop until you upgrade or remove content.

How private is my portal really? +

Each tenant gets a separate subdomain (or your own custom domain), an isolated session cookie, role-based access (owner / admin / member), audit logging, and optional 2FA. Members of other tenants cannot see your tree even if they know the URL — they get a 404.

Can I use my own domain name? +

On the Family and Legacy plans, yes. Point a CNAME at our platform, verify ownership via DNS TXT, and we provision a Let's Encrypt cert automatically.

Do you offer discounts for non-profit family associations? +

Yes — email contact@myglobalfamilytree.com with a brief description and we will set you up.

What is the trial period? +

7 days, no credit card required. After 7 days your portal stays alive on the Free plan unless you choose to upgrade.

Is there a mobile app? +

Web app for now — installable as a PWA from any modern phone browser (Add to Home Screen). Native iOS / Android are on the roadmap.

How do I get support? +

In-app help widget on every page, or email us via the contact form. Average response time is under 24 hours.
